Brown is a great color for play dough because it’s the color of dirt. When you add plastic animals, trucks, sticks, and pebbles, it’s almost like you’re playing outside! But we also make blue play dough when we play with plastic sea creatures.
Ingredients:
4 cups white flour
1 cup of salt
8 teaspoons of cream of tartar
4 cups water
4 tablespoons cooking oil
40 drops each of red, blue, and yellow food coloring to make brown play dough. OR 100 drops or so of blue food coloring to make blue play dough.
Mix flour, salt, and cream of tartar in a medium pot. Add water, oil, and food coloring. Cook and stir over medium heat. When mixture forms a hot sticky lump in the pot, lift it out with a large spoon, let it cool a bit, and then knead on a flat surface.
