The Online Nature Collector’s Swap Shop is an extension of an activity that Mr. Eric has done at Wonder Works, a Children’s Museum in Oak Park, Illinois, and at various other places around town. Children and their adults can bring natural objects from home, like pine cones, rocks, and shells, and trade them for the natural things on display in the Swap Shop drawers, as shown in the photo above. Nature Collector’s Swap Shop is managed by Eric Gyllenhaal (also known as “Mr. Eric”), a long-time museum educator who currently volunteers at Wonder Works and elsewhere.
Since Wonder Works is closed for at least until summer, 2020, Mr. Eric has been working on ways to bring a corona-safe version of Nature Collector’s Shop Shop to Wonder Works members. This website is our first attempt at accomplishing that goal.
